The Staveley Herd |

The breeding programme started with Djerk in 1989, with his immense production of muscle, and subsequently became one of the most successful sires in U.K. Limousin. Staveley International (one of his sons) was retained by Staveley, and a half share subsequently sold to Walburn Hall Farms North Yorkshire. The purchase of Honneur then followed, to produce more scale into Djerk's daughters. This was extremely successful, as was the showing record of this breeding mix Many Championships and record prices resulted. (Click on progeny). In 1999, Staveley and Greenfield were fortunate enough to purchase Opera, to throw even more muscle into the Djerk/Honneur mix, but still retaining the cleanliness, style, good nature and milkability which Staveley has always tried to breed. Opera's conformation is outstanding and during 2002/03, he has been hugely admired by pedigree and commercial men alike. To view Picaro's 2001/2/3 progeny click here. He is of a "MIXED BEEF" type with a fine stature and nature. We at Staveley are extremely excited by the team of bulls, which we have in our herd. All have been selected very carefully from LEADING French herds, and bring new and exiting prospects to U.K. Limousin, and their semen available for Worldwide export. |
